Results of the 1st All Russian Youth Organ competition
The 1st All Russian Youth Organ competition was held in Saratov state conservatoire from 6th till 10th of February. All participants were divided into several age groups: pupils of musical schools, students of secondary professional schools. Students of higher education were subdivided into 2 groups – those who learn organ as special instrument and those who learn it as an additional one.
35 young organists from Kazan, Novosibirsk, Nalchik, Naberezhnye Chelny, Perm, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Saratov took part in the competition. Each performer was evaluated by international jury headed by Theo Yellema. 26 participants received awards and diplomas of the competition.
Jury Co-Chairman Jean-Pierre Steijvers, the soloist of Saratov Philharmonic Elena Lelchuk and Vice-rector on art and educational activity Alexey Koshelev took part in the award ceremony.
Gala Concert was opened by the jury member Dina Ichina. She performed the famous Passacaglia in C minor of J. S. Bach. Then all laureates of the competition played pieces of Charles-Marie Widor, Eugène Gigout, Domenico Zipoli, Louis Victor Jules Vierne, Michael Tariverdiev and others.
